Shannon was anxious. Not in a bad way, but the anticipatory way that everyone got when something new and exciting was going up and there was no way it could go badly, but predicting the end outcome was almost impossible. It was a great feeling, but one that left Shannon feeling like a teen heading out to prom instead of a grown man getting ready to have fun with his boyfriend and potentially make some hilariously heartfelt gestures to express his trust in Eli. That was probably something he didn't do enough in general, actually.

Breakfast had been something simple. Pancakes, fresh cut fruit and sausage. Eli had come over pretty early to get ready, talking over the generalities of what they were going to do while the specifics were to wait for after they were done. Well, now they were done and sitting on the couch, and Shannon's leg was jiggling even under the hand he had placed on his knee to keep himself still. Lacey had wandered off after breakfast, stomach filled with her own food and presumably was napping on the foot of the bed in Shannon's room. Probably for the better, really.

"So," he said, ignoring the obvious tell he was giving off. If Eli took it for misapprehension, then Shannon was going to definitely lean over and smack him. "Where do we start?"

He couldn't help but kiss back, though it didn't help when Shannon started quoting Dr. Suess, which caused Eli to groan softly in disbelief. Of all the things he picked, he went with that? Sometimes he had to wonder about his boyfriend and what exactly went on in his head on a normal occasion.

"Sorry, I'm used to having to deal with idiots who would try to crack it instead of somebody smart enough to know the consequences already." He ducked his head down in embarrassment before he distracted himself from his mistake by reaching out and touching the whip alongside him, fingers sometimes brushing over Shannon's hands. "It's nice and sturdy. Well made from the looks of it, but I'll have to test it out in an open space before I use it on you though."

That groan only seemed to spur Shannon on further. As much as Eli loved to push boundaries, Shannon loved to work for reactions. It helped that he didn't have to try very hard when the mood struck. When they separated, it was obvious he was satisfied enough from the reaction.

"I'd be offended, but most people are idiots," Shannon said with a shrug. He moved to wrap the whip back into coils and hand it over to Eli once he was finished so that he could take up Lacey's lead again. "Test it for what? Can't always tell quality from feeling it out?"

"You aren't an idiot, so I should have expected better than that from you," he pointed out calmly as he took the whip and put it with the rest of the things they were getting. He picked up a flogger as well, but didn't hand it to Shannon, looking it over for a moment. "That's pretty much it. There are people who will sell you a whip that appears nice, but could fall apart when you use it. It's always good to check first before you use it on someone."

"You're not used to having me in a place like this, either," Shannon pointed out. Eli had a lot of experience with these things and presumably a lot of partners, Dom and sub, that had gone through the dance with him. It didn't really surprise him that he'd dealt with plenty of morons throughout his time. It did please him that Eli seemed to remember who he was dealing with now, though.

Tilting his head, Shannon said, "If this one turns out good, you'll have to show me one that turned out bad. For comparison's sake. It feels sturdy. We get a refund if it's faulty?"

"That's true, but you still know better than to do something stupid in here," Eli responded before with a sigh. It was true that he had deal with idiots who had done such things before, but he should have expected better from Shannon. He at least knew how to behave in public.

"Yeah, I can show you one that was built bad. They do refund them, but most places like this don't let you return used goods for obvious reasons." He started to move Shannon on to another area. There were moments where he stopped and picked something up and then put it back down, clearly not interested in it in the end.

Shannon shook his head and fixed his grip back around Eli's waist. Eli was going to feel down about thinking out of turn in regards to who he was with now instead of those idiots he had settled for in the past, but Shannon wasn't going to let it keep either of them out of the game for long. This was a fun excursion out, not one to get caught in mistakes or memory lane.

Listening with interest, Shannon sometimes reached out for items Eli had put away while other times kept his hands to himself and simply followed along. He was plenty curious about what sorts of wares Eli didn't seem interested enough in, but trusted Eli's knowledge on the subject more than his own flights of fancy on what anything might be used for. "Obviously," he agreed. "So... restraints next, right? What kinds are there to pick from?"

Surprisingly, Eli wasn't going to beat himself up over it much. What's done is done and he's going to move on because he's in a bondage shop with Shannon and really, that's better than all the other times he was here before either by himself or with one of his many flings.

"That's right," he said with a grin, stopping them by the restraints and looking at them. "There are a bunch of different kinds of restraints. You've got your basic wrist/ankle ones, finger/toe cuffs, ones that restrain your limbs completely in a sleeve, not to mention spreader bars and the iron manacle subset. We're going to go basic with you, maybe try out an armbinder as well. What do you think?"

Shannon thought over the options, easily capable of adding an idea to the name. Most of them sounded as advertised and all were definitely worth trying at one point or another. Eli probably had the right idea of it to start out simple and work their way up, even if Shannon really would like to get to some of the more intense forms of it sooner rather than later.

"What do you mean, a sleeve?" he asked, nodding along in agreement to Eli's assessment. "Like a straitjacket or something?"

"No, not like that. Both arms are restrained behind your back together in it. Here," Eli said as he picked up an armbinder and handed it to Shannon. He knew he could understand it better by feeling it out than any sort of explanation. "This is one of them and I'm getting you something along these lines for you to try out."

While Shannon was feeling that out, Eli was busy picking out other things for Shannon, namely leather wrist cuffs and some spreader bars to try out on him in the future. Not everything Eli picked out was for the immediate future, but something much longer away since Eli was sure that he and Shannon would need to take their time with this.

As it was handed over, Shannon took it with his free hand and felt it out. It was definitely intricate, but once he placed which end the arms went inside and which side tapered into the container for the fingers, the image practically snapped into place. He pictured its use for a moment, then nodded. "I wouldn't say no," he said in an obviously-interested tone of voice.

For a moment, he simply continued to feel it out. Then, Shannon tilted his head in Eli's direction and asked, "What else have you got there?"

Eli definitely picked up on the interested tone and reached over to play with a clamp through Shannon's shirt. If he was interested then they were definitely going to try it. "I'll keep that in mind then."

He held out a leather cuff to Shannon, switching it with the armbinder and keeping the spreader he picked out away from him. There had to be at least some secrets until they got home and could talk about it some more. "Just the basics. We'll only grab a few more things and then we can go on to the next place."

Shannon gave a soft hiss, his body tensing up with the playful motion before he let it roll out of him in a wave. It was all he could do not to fumble or drop the armbinder before Eli could take it, shooting an exasperated look in Eli's direction for the sake of it. He felt out the leather cuffs, pressing his fingers into the material and bending it at certain parts as if to test the mettle without doing anything strenuous. Just the attention he was paying said a lot about his approval.

"The next place being...?" Eli was in charge today, so he got the final say on where they were going to go or what purchases would be made in the end, but that didn't stop Shannon from doing more than just settling in for the ride. "And what will we get there?"

Even though Eli didn't say anything, it was definitely obvious that he was grinning at Shannon's response. He caught him off guard with that one and was glad to get a more obvious response than before, even if it wasn't more obvious vocally. As an apology, he leaned in and kissed him on the cheek.

"A sex shop. A more vanilla one than this since this deals more with bondage than actual sex," responded Eli calmly. He knew that Shannon was still up in the air about the whole sex thing, but they weren't going there to push Shannon into doing anything with him. "We need to get you more lube and condoms while I need a couple new toys since some of my old ones need replacing. Electricity does that to things."

Shannon reached up to flick his finger across Eli's nose in response. If they were going to be playful about it, he could certainly respond in kind. There wasn't much Shannon could do on par with the clamps, but he could start giving different reactions all together... when he was of the mind to manage that much, anyway.

It was a good thing Eli clarified, because Shannon had already opened his mouth awkwardly before he became somewhat more subdued. "Right, okay. Guess that's a thing now," he acknowledged. It was still weird to think that he was in a committed relationship with Eli Delacroix, yet had made actual plans to sleep with someone else entirely despite said relationship. He'd heard of that kind of stuff going on before, but never had he imagined his own life going in quite that direction. "I'd say why don't you make some of your own that wouldn't short out, but... that's probably not all that great of a way to spend the time, huh?"

The nose flicking merely made him twitch his nose in response. It wasn't anything out of the ordinary and Eli liked that this didn't seem to complicate their relationship too much. Sometimes it was the little things that reminded him that they were still them no matter what else they decided to do.

"I know. Weird, right?" The tone was slightly teasing, but there was definitely truth in that. It was still weird to thing that this was now a part of their relationship as convoluted as they had to make it so that it'd work. "It's not the insides that are the problem. I burn the plastic and silicone and whatever else they make dildos and vibrators out of these days, so I have to toss 'em out after a few uses."

Said convolution in their relationship was, for once, due to Shannon. He could hardly forget that part. While he knew better than to try and rush himself with where he was comfortable and how far he could go, it still rankled that he had been taking so long that the two of them had discovered a workaround in partially adding Michelle to their workings. It wasn't anyone's fault but his own for that and he promised himself that he would make it up to Eli at some point in the future.

"Weird is one word for it," Shannon agreed in amusement. He shifted to lean against Eli's side while still toying with the restraints. "You'd think I would be the one to have those kinds of problems. Maybe I will," he added with a mischievous grin.

The convoluted addition to their relationship wasn't something that upset Eli nor was it something he was glad for because of the two of them taking so long. He had already committed himself to waiting until Shannon was comfortable enough when it came to sex and while Michelle's addition was speeding up the process, it was also adding in a third person and even now, Eli was wary of sharing Shannon with others despite the fact he was perfectly okay with Shannon having sex with women even while he and Eli were dating.

"Weird, complication, a hot mess. Pick whichever you like best." He watched Shannon toy with the restraints and he could help but glance down at his own wrists, where the fused metal and plastic of Trigger was on his wrist. He hadn't really thought about it, but he would never be able to use regular restraints again without further injuring his wrist. "I doubt it. If you didn't set anything on fire when your dick was in my mouth, then you're not going to have that problem. For one, you'd have to actually have your powers accessible and you don't. On the plus side, you'll never have to deal with what I dealt with when I was a teenager."

While Shannon wasn't going to go anywhere, he did appreciate the possessiveness Eli showed in their relationship. It was good to be wanted, coveted by your significant other. There was a difference between Eli being all right with Shannon having sex while they worked on their own related issues and Eli being all right with Shannon giving his heart to someone else just because they had a pretty body. Anyone who was fine with sharing their beloved's heart was not someone Shannon wanted to give himself to anyway. Having their friend with benefits be someone who was also a genuine friend was where the true stumbling block came in, even if Shannon knew he wouldn't suddenly fall over himself for Michelle's charms.

"Hot mess probably describes it best." While unaware of Eli's inner thoughts, Shannon did know that Trigger's old chassis was going to be a large problem in holding Eli down once they were comfortable enough to try switching roles. At the very least, it would give Shannon time to think of alternatives. He wasn't one to let something like that get in his way. "Which is for the better," Shannon pointed out. Having his powers was a worst-case scenario, and they still had to deal with the fact that Shannon had tapped into them at all. "Puberty must have been hell."

"Probably. I imagine it's an ongoing assessment until we really get it." That was something they'd definitely have to figure out before switching roles. Causing Eli more damage wasn't something that either of them wanted and would ruin any and all scenes that they'd do together in that situation. "You have no idea. First time I had sex, I put a girl in a coma."

The way he said it was so offhand that if it was from anyone else it'd be frightening. Eli had long since learned to control his powers in most situations because of what had happened and had learned not to dwell on the accident that occurred, but instead used them as learning tools so that he could keep from repeating his mistakes in the future.

If Eli expected Shannon to be drawn in by his offhand nature, he had another thing coming. Shannon paused, brow furrowed and head tilted, before he pulled Eli in close around the waist and placed his chin on Eli's shoulder. His comment had been meant as a commiserating joke but that answer was no joke at all. "Was she okay?" he asked. This was something he needed to know, not for the sake of the girl but to better understand Eli and the aftermath of such an experience.

There was nothing he could do to change that past, but sometimes Shannon forgot that all of his friends with the amazing and impossible powers didn't start out with enough control to live normal lives. Most, if not all, needed to figure them out through dangerous trial and error, and that was an experience Shannon would never get to understand. That Eli had come to terms with it was good, but Shannon still needed to have more information to work through the new tidbit.

"Eventually," Eli said when Shannon pulled him closer, not expecting him to do that. It really wasn't a big thing now, but it had been an utterly terrifying experience back when he was young and stupid and sixteen. "I gave her a pretty bad shock and even after she got out of the coma, she still had some issues with nerve damage and she never remember exactly what happened to put her into the coma in the first place."

He didn't tell Shannon that Thomas had to come in and start reversing the damage Eli had done personally and made sure the memory of what happened never returned so as to cause trouble for any of the Aspects. If there was one thing Thomas hated more than Nate, it was unexpected complications and that was exactly what that girl had been. Eli didn't want to dwell on the subject and instead tried to switch gears. "Pull up your shirt for me. I want to take those clamps off you now."

Shannon nodded at that explanation. There were blanks in there that Eli wasn't mentioning, but he was all right with that. All in all, it was a relatively light sentence, even if the girl had done nothing to deserve it in the first place. He pulled back at the change in topic and gave Eli a mock scandalized look.

"Is it still safe?" he asked. With Eli, he would never know if he were about to drop their cover just as Shannon was going to make himself into a show. He was definitely the type to control outward appearances since people based so many opinions on them, and wanted to know what he was getting into at all times.

"If it wasn't, I wouldn't have said to do so." He hadn't taken off the illusion since he put it up, wanting to have Shannon all to himself even when surrounded by people. They could see the two of them, but only what Eli wanted them to, just them walking and shopping, not any of the kisses or the nipple teases. Those were all for him to see and enjoy. Nobody else was allowed.

"I wouldn't do that to you," he said as he rested a hand on his hip, looking down at him and moving so that he could lean his head against Shannon's. "I told you that you're mine and I won't let anyone else see this."

Shannon couldn't help the quiet chuckle as Eli moved in closer and placed them so close together. To the outsider, such declarations would be worthy of worried looks and furtive whispers. It helped to know Eli so well, to trust him despite any hidden danger lurking underneath and to know that this possessiveness was only because Shannon allowed it. Shannon saw nothing wrong with it, as he had no intention of belonging to anyone else, anyway. Despite all of the vast differences between them, they fit together too perfectly to consider looking for someone else.

He let his head rest against Eli's and gave a smile to match his previous laugh. Shifting his hand, Shannon tugged his shirt back up to give Eli access as he had asked, quite satisfied with the protection Eli offered. "Then go ahead, Sir," he teased.

It probably also helped that Eli's possessiveness was really only part of the D/s section of their relationship, since he seemed perfectly fine sharing Shannon with Michelle for sex. Eli may have his issues with the relationship, sure, but he didn't think he needed to get the creepy terrible possessive towards Shannon to make sure that they'd stay together. For one thing, he knew that'd just make him want to leave.

There was a sharp exhale at Shannon calling him sir and he had to take a moment to collect himself before he started removing the clamps. Once he removed each one, Eli bent down to kiss his nipples gently before standing back up and kissing Shannon on the lips. With the way things were going, Eli was probably going to speed up shopping so that they could get home faster.
