WHAT an archaeologist finds herself a very old and very confused spirit. Sort of.
WHEN a year or so after the reuniting of the two worlds
WHERE initially, outside Asgard, in the Balacruf region
WHY Reasons. and ruins.

She'd been meaning to revisit Balacruf for a while now, really. There had been shifts, when the worlds reunited. Not many -- for the most part, Origin had handled it with grace -- but some things that had been hidden had been revealed. The reverse was true also, of course, but fortunately there hadn't been any loss of life, and no too great loss of property or history.

So: Balacruf. Genis and Lloyd were in Asgard for the moment, and Raine had taken a rheaird out to the Balacruf Mausoleum. The original ruins were still intact, thankfully, and Raine stepped through the passages with her mind nearly somewhere else entirely. The monsters had subsided, were barely a threat now, and she was free to ruminate as she went.

Something... something was off, pinging her sense for mana in a distant, distant way. Raine cut her review of the seal ruins short, returned to the entrance, frowning. Whatever it was, it wasn't earth-shattering, but neither could she lay a finger on what it was. Peculiar. She headed down the hill, seeking out the more newly revealed area; no one had yet dared venture in, and it was the primary reason she'd come out this far, in any case. It might hold history from before the splitting of the world, was one of the only places really likely to, and that was certainly worth investigating.
