[ On good days, Chris's routine can be rather... well, routine. On crazy days, they're being invaded by aliens and entering space battles and it's the fun and exhilarating kind of crazy. On annoying days, there is absolutely nothing to do on the ship which means everyone is looking to do menial shit and being good at being good at things backfires right in the ensign's face on days like these.
It's another annoying day today and most departments are trying to vie for his time, as the lack of red alert state makes his presence in the armory negligible. Right now, he's found himself inside a jeffries tube with a datapad full of the latest reports of his security level on different topics surrounding the Enterprise.
... okay, and maybe he has a few for-fun fiction novels in there, too. Not that anyone's going to find them on pain of their deaths. Hopefully no one thinks to look in the shafts of deck level D for him before his shift on patrol. ]

So while he doesn't need to go search for Chris, he ends up looking for him anyway so that he can get rid of the intruders. Finding someone from engineering, he asks where they're doing work on the ship and once he gets an answer, he sets off to go find his wayward second in command.
It's not long after he starts his search that he finds Chris (more like stumbles upon him, but Malcolm isn't going to admit that) in his hiding spot. He looks almost disappointed when he does, but not for his choice of hiding spots, but more for the fact that Chris has to hide himself away. He really needs to bring this up with the Captain at the earliest chance to get this to stop.]
Ensign. There's something in the armoury that needs your attention.

The datapad he had linked to the scanning program said the glitch was somewhere up ahead and to the right. When Trip crawled that far, he didn't necessary find the glitch, but an Ensign Halliwell as well.]
uh...Hi. What are you doing here?
