Yeah, that earned a scoff. As if Chris wasn't going to pass whatever test Rush had set up. He had already found out that Rush was magic and they were currently on the tail of a demon with an unknown agenda. Not hard to finish up and pass whatever qualifications Rush was putting on his skill.

"It's the same thing," Chris argued. The phrase I'm not doubting your abilities didn't seem to sink in at all, his attention focusing instead on the idea that Rush apparently wouldn't want to run through as bait when Chris could pull it off easily. Chris wouldn't let his reluctant partner be in any danger, so what was there to dislike about the idea? Even if he didn't understand the reasoning, that was no reason Chris was going to back down from fighting about it. "You'll be fine."
