It was obvious that Eli merely gave Shannon a kiss on the cheek to make him do more, wanting to give Shannon his time to do what he wished before the scene started. He knew the lack of control was still somewhat of an issue and Eli still wanted to let Shannon know that they were still equals in their relationship even if the D/s portion was a bit skewed.

"Along with your collar and restraints," he clarified with a grin. That probably wasn't exactly what he was looking for, but that was what he was going to get. "I want you to feel comfortable in it so when we do end up in a scene with the heavier stuff again, you'll feel much better than you do now with it."
