Michelle petted Shannon's hair when he fondled her, praising him for responding properly to her doing something for him. She wanted to encourage the good and discourage the bad without being too obvious or harsh about it and this was the best way she's figured out thus far. When he's done with the bottle, she puts it aside and then lets Eli take the lead.

"We're going to put you up there the other way around, so I want you to step up to it with your back facing it, alright?" He looks to Shannon and then Starts to remove the restraints around his wrist. There were already restraints on the rack itself, so he didn't need them anymore. Tossing them aside, he then looked to see if Shannon followed his orders. Once he saw that, he started hooking his wrists and ankles into the rack and setting him into it.
