Matheus, like most of the other Aspects, wasn't aware of what had happened while Eli was travelling the multiverse to find Jasper and didn't know of Eli's distancing himself from Shannon. It wasn't too difficult to know more about the subject than Shannon at this point, but Matheus was decently knowledgeable on the subject and willing to impart some of it on his friend.
