What Shannon didn't seem to realize about their relationship was that there weren't any expectations for it, whether presently or for the future. It was hard to have expectations when Eli wasn't really sure that the relationship was actually real half the time. He still thought that he was going to wake up all day and realize that it was just a dream. A really nice dream, but a dream nonetheless.

"It's not just something to do, you know," he said as he picked up his bag and carefully slung it over his shoulder. "There's a reason for everything I do when it comes to this."
