With the hand in his hair, Chris's eyes opened once again to glare up at Cole. He didn't understand what exactly was being done, but he knew it was magic and that it was extremely dangerous going forward. This wasn't a truth spell, he was pretty sure, but then what else was it that Cole was doing to him? If only his head would stop swimming every time Cole spoke, an oily feeling coating his mind thicker with every word.

Chris tried to hold out, he really did. No matter what he did, however, the questions wormed their way in from some other angle. Distracting himself or focusing, nothing worked. Words kept bubbling up to answer the prodding and he could only do so much to keep himself from speaking. "Of course—" He grunted, trying to stop there if he could. Just let his sentence finish, let himself answer with the bravado he so desperately needed. "—not. Dammit."
