When Cole pulled away, Chris couldn't help but close his eyes for a moment to try and really sort his thoughts out. This wasn't how he meant for this to go. They were at two different angles and passing each other by without even making contact at this rate, and it was a difficult thing to figure out how he was even supposed to clarify what he meant without making things worse. Taking Cole's face in his hands, Chris turned his attention back onto him.

"That's not what I meant," Chris said slowly. "I don't care what you are, I trust you and you're mine. You'll always be mine. But... demons are fairy tales," he said, voice unsure but message hopefully clear. Summoners were the most educated humans on the planet when it came to matters of magical creatures, practices and habits. As much as the paladins knew, summoners passed down even more just within their family lines and each other. If what Chris was raised to know as truth wasn't right, then... what did that mean?
