misconceived: (✇how can you say)

Biting back the reply that he didn't want to leave, Chris dutifully stepped forward and retrieved the letter he had been entrusted. It was sealed with Lord Odin's personal emblem, a high regard to the man no one in the Order seemed to like one wit, and Chris couldn't fathom why. There was nothing else happening, at least nothing that Chris could detect, as he held the letter out for Turner to receive. "Here you are," he said quietly.

Leo, on the other hand, was watching like a hawk. He had been dealing with Cole Turner for a number of years now and could recognize that something was off about the encounter, not only for Turner was acting but his youngest son as well. There was a spark of life in him that had been missing for years yet it wasn't something Leo could easily place as to what had reignited it. Chris was obviously confused by it himself, and that only made Leo even more suspicious. Ever since his sigil had come in only half-formed and remained that way, Leo had been on diligent lookout for any signs of his son coming into his own or otherwise accepting the fact that something had gone wrong. In the middle of it all, there was a constant concern that it would make him more vulnerable to outside influences and magical interference.

Was that what was happening now?

"With our message delivered," Leo said carefully as he stood as well, "we should be grateful for you to read it in our presence to know that the offer was properly extended." His words seemed to snap Chris out of something and he was privately glad for it. His son took a step back and regained his stance, and Leo was definitely going to need to check on him in private later.
