In Doom's eyes, ALFRED was a disastrous piece of machinery that needed to be fixed immediately before he could even think about giving it back to the girl for her own use. So he was completely caught by surprised when she grabbed ALFRED from him. He instinctively turned and grabbed her by the throat with one hand while the other grabbed ALFRED's core to yank it out of her grasp.

"I wasn't done fixing that yet," he shouted angrily, looking as if he was daring her to do anything to make him shock her again. It took a moment for it to click that she was out of her cell. Well, that was going to be annoying. "And what do you think you're doing out of your cell, little insect?"
