"What, you can't just get a license reissued?" Now Chris was actually curious. He couldn't help it; even if lawyering wasn't something he understood or really cared about, it wasn't hard to follow a thread of information until he came out of it satisfied. This guy seemed plenty willing to indulge him in at least that much, and Chris didn't have anywhere to be just yet until the next demon appeared so he wasn't really in a hurry.

At that question, Chris gave a small grin. Yeah, he knew what was being done and he didn't really want to go into it. Least of all because anything he could say about what he had been doing before his death would be suspect as all get out if he worded it even slightly wrong. "I was chasing down a pretty powerful evil," he said. He gave a one-armed shrug. "It got me in the end, but I'm pretty sure he died, too. I call it a win."
