That wasn't going to fly very well from a stranger. As much as he liked the kid on a preliminary level, Shannon was not the type to be led around; even his friends and family would only do it when he indicated that he needed the help with familiarizing. He removed his hand from the grip and followed along just behind Eli. His ears had canted backwards at the presumptuousness, enough to be noticed while not too far back to think that he was angry. Just enough to say he didn't appreciate it without him being aware he was projecting all that much.
"At least you're quick on the uptake once you know what you're dealing with," he commented, his voice a carefully genial tone. Most people didn't know how to deal with those with disabilities, it was common, nothing to really blame the kid for. "Most people might have thought I was serious right there, and that's really sad. When it's not funny, anyway."
