The kid was obviously interested in him, whether it was for his blindness, profession or his ears Shannon could not say, and wanted to learn more without coming outright and asking about it. That was fine. A lot of people didn't really know how to broach awkward topics like that, or assumed merely asking would offend him. At least Delacroix graceful enough about it.
