Cerberus was so detached from everything else that when finally presented with something where he reacted purely on instinct and emotion, suddenly it wasn't so easy — at least, that was what Jacob would have said if he knew what exactly was going through Abel's head right now. His own thoughts on the matter are more that perhaps they weren't so close in the past that Abel's current, weird clinginess was because Jacob was the only thing left from those early days.
