Jacob rolled his eyes widely. "Maybe you haven't noticed," he said slowly, "but I tend to heal up really fast. After I have some food in me, I'll be fine." That was oversimplifying it to the extreme, but it was essentially how Jacob had operated for so long. If he could function even halfway, that was enough to get moving again and recover on the road. There was no reason to stay here to finish up what could just as well be done back home.
